Evaluation finale du projet «Demain est un autre jour» à Bangui, Boda et Bossangoa

Final Evaluation of the EU-funded project “Tomorrow is Another Day” (“Demain est un Autre Jour”) in Central African Republic (2016)

Following the outbreak of the political and military crisis in Central African Republic (CAR) in December 2012, which led to regime change in March 2013, CAR experienced serious socio-economic consequences and a wave of violence across the country. This eventually led to the birth of the Anti-Balaka movement in December 2013, undermined social cohesion in the country, and caused significant poverty and mass-displacement of people.

It was against this backdrop that the EU-funded project “Tomorrow is Another Day” was implemented by Search for Common Ground (“Search”) in the towns of Bangui, Boda and Bossangoa in Central African Republic. Its objective was to promote disarmament, demobilisation, and reintegration (DDR) processes at the local level, through awareness raising campaigns and Peace Mediation Committees.

The final evaluation of the peacebuilding project was carried out in 2016 by Cabinet TECNIC to assess the relevance, effectiveness, impact, and sustainability of the intervention, in order to identify avenues and lessons for future interventions of a similar nature. A mixed methodology was employed for the evaluation, consisting of focus group discussions (FGDs), key informant interviews (KIIs) and a quantitative survey interviewing final beneficiaries (including ex-combatants). Conflict Management Consulting (CMC) carried out mid- and senior-level quality assurance services for the evaluation, including guidance on methodological design, sampling, and production of the final report.
