Evaluation of projects implemented under Phase II of the Darfur Community Peace and Stability Fund (2017)
The Darfur Community Peace and Stability Fund is a multi-donor trust fund which seeks to achieve peace, stability, and sustainable growth in Darfur on a local level, by supporting inclusive and sustainable peace negotiations in the region. Phase II was comprised of a complex and overlapping set of interventions which broadly sought to support peacebuilding activities and contribute to social cohesion through inter- and intra-tribal dialogue and negotiations, focusing particularly on youth and women. 64 projects were funded across all five states of Darfur between 2011 to 2017, before Phase II was extended until 2020.
This report covered the evaluation of Phase II from 2011-2017 requested by UNDP, which focused on examining the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, sustainability, and impact of the activities and assessed the success and failures of the project while providing recommendations on the future strategy of the Fund.
The methodology included a desk review, qualitative data collection through focus group discussions and key informant interviews, and quantitative data collection through employing a household survey. Data was collected in three states in Darfur (North, South, and West), and in Khartoum.
